Up early, prepare for trip north. First thing I noticed today was one of my neighbours was having a "hemp" breakfast, nothing odd in that I guess but seemed stranger later when I ended up at the Wildwood RV camp, remember the old song about the "Wildwood Weed" :).
Headed north via Horseshoe Bay up to Whistler, which is to be the home for the 2010 Winter & Para Olympics. The roads were terrible as they are spending $600 million CAD to upgrade the roading before the big event, very slow going. Then sometime after Whistler I encountered what is apparently the steepest gradient in British Columbia, 13% up and down. Poor old Lucy was in 1st gear at 20 mph crawling up these hills with the heater going full blast to keep the temperature down. And the roads were atrocious, I think our NZ Grade 2 rural roads are better. Finally got onto some decent roads some hours later and made better progress. Stopped at a nice little lake in the Pemberton area for lunch (pics of course) and then on to Clinton for a fuel stop. Some rain here and there and the shorts and t shirt I was wearing in California no longer cut it, its jersey and long trousers now. Finally rocked up into Williams Lake just after 6:00pm and the local "lad" at the petrol station put me onto the Wildwood RV camp which is where I now sit writing this. And that odd "eyes watching me" sensation is back. Hmmm.
There is a lot of writing I haven't yet done and some pictures still to publish but often at the end of the day I am just to tired or just decide to spend the time on ME! I will update / fill in the blanks as I go along. I plan to be in Anchorage for a number of nights and may do a lot of my catchups there, we will see :)
